About Us.

Established in 2014

OxRAM initially started as the Oxford 3D printing society and comprised of a couple 3D-printing enthusiasts studying material science and engineering. In 2017, we added the robotics wing to the society. In 2019, we transformed from a 3d-printing, workshop-based society to a robotics, project-based society.

OxRAM has a long history of rapid transformation and we aim to continue changing and evolving in the same way the tech industry rapidly grows and evolves.

Our Goal

"We aim to be the largest tech society in the UK.

In 2014, we started with less than 30 members and since then have grown to have over 500 members, comprising of both undergraduate and graduate students studying a vast variety of subjects.

We aim to harness the student "out-of-the-box" spirit to create new and exciting developments in tech

Matthew Clark
President

I am a first year Cellular Structural Biology DPhil student. My favourite area of science is the study of protein structure and I use 3D printing to show how these incredible molecular machines work. This year I am leading OxRAM's '3D printing for science communication' project: An opportunity for people of all subjects to learn the fundamentals of 3D printing and how it can help to present complex ideas.

Mentor

Hello! I am a David Cockayne Junior Research Fellow at Linacre College and the Department of Materials, and I also supervise the OMCS 3D Printing Lab. I have a passion for creating things from the ground up. I'll be mentoring the society and the Robot Arm Project. My goal is to create an environment where students can freely explore their imagination, helping them gain confidence for their future journeys.
